Adult Dog Programme

We run an adult service dog programme where we rescue suitable dogs who we believe will make excellent service animals.

These dogs undergo all the same training as dogs on our Puppy Programme but are ready for service work in a much shorter period of time due to their age and us being able to train them from day one instead of waiting until they reach 12-14 months.

The breeds we choose to work with are usually Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Goldendoodles, Labradoodles, Miniature Poodles and mixes of these breeds.

Training:· Training generally takes 8 weeks оf temperament evaluation, obedience training, socialization, аnd sound training. Thе dogs аrе taught tо work fоr toys аnd affection.· We train оur Hearing Dogs tо respond tо ѕеvеn sounds: fire аnd smoke alarms, thе telephone, oven timer, alarm clock, doorbell/door knock, аnd nаmе call (and іf required а baby crying).· Once рlасеd wіth thеіr deaf partner, thе dogs easily learn tо respond tо additional sounds ѕuсh аѕ thе microwave, tea kettle, аnd washer/dryer. Hearing Dogs саn bе taught tо alert people tо аnу repetitive sound thаt саn bе set uр аnd practiced regularly. –

The Service Dogs that pass our training will be spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated before leaving here.

This training will include visiting your local shopping centres, restaurants, using public transport and visiting friends and other family members if required. If the Service Dog was trained for a child then we can also include visiting your child’s school plus we will incorporate any other places you go to in your day to day life. You will also be shown the tailored tasks your Service Dog was trained to provide. Read More

All of our dogs are highly trained to the standards laid down by the most respected assistance dog organisation, the ADEu ( Assistance Dogs Europe ) using the same principles of care and training.

A huge amount of training, housing and veterinary care is invested in each dog. Even then not all dogs will become service dogs, yet the cost of our time and resources remain fixed. Service Dogs Europe do not receive government funding: we fund this programme ourselves through the placement of our service dogs and help from local businesses with dog food, accessories, fundraisers and volunteers.
